deRoy and Rick McKayNominated For A New York Emmy Award For Their Work On The WNET Series "City Arts" Producers Jamie deRoy and Rick McKay were nominated February 22nd by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for an Emmy award for their work on the Thirteen/WNET series "City Arts." Their segment, "The Biggest Little Operas in Town" was one of the most successful aired last season and was part of the episode, "Best of the Arts", that is nominated in the Emmy category: "Outstanding Programming for the Arts." "City Arts" has the distinction of being the most honored locally produced television show in American history, with 17 Emmy awards in it's first four seasons. Mr. McKay and Ms. deRoy have already produced the first segment for the new, highly rated, national version of the series, "Egg: the arts show." Their new segment centers on the New York International Fringe Festival and the controversial performance artist Reverend Billy and will air April 13th on Thirteen/WNET. Jamie deRoy and Rick McKay won a 1998 Telly Award for the well-received "City Arts" segment "Where do Musicals Come From?" as well as 1999 Telly's for their segment "All that Glitters," and for the special episode "Jamie deRoy & friends: Backstage at 'The Sound of Music'." Ms. deRoy also won a 1998 Telly award for her nationally broadcast entertainment show "Jamie deRoy & friends," and Rick McKay is an award-winning journalist and filmmaker who has made documentaries for Mike Nichols and A&E's Biography series as well as HBO and United Artists. |
